TEAM LEADER, HOMELESS SERVICES
Matthew Reed joined the Intown team in 2020.
"Being born and raised in the Atlanta area I deeply care about the state of my hometown. After traveling and volunteering around the world for a few years in my early twenties my life calling was revealed to me through the indescribable hospitality and kindness I experienced. Immediately after returning in 1998 I focused my attention to local needs, so I joined a ragtag group committed to cooking quality meals, feeding and hanging out with the homeless. Since that time, I have had the tremendous opportunity to work with inner city youth, the Grady ACT team and the Mercy Care Street Medicine team. Every day at some point I am filled with gratitude and awe that I actually get paid to make new friends, share life, meet housing needs, and participate in the restoration of my humanity and others on this journey. My life has been enriched and healed during the twenty plus years of developing relationships with this community. In my free time I love being outside running, biking, hiking and camping. Other sources of joy are connecting with friends/family, teaching a garden class at small neighborhood school, serving meals at the Loaves and Fishes food program, and traveling abroad."
